Clay Shirky’s Internet Writings

Clay Shirky’s Internet Writings

It’s clear now, what Clay was doing since 2003 or so when the stream of excellent writing  from his pen ebbed. He was writing a book.  “Here comes Everybody” is reviewed in many places. Clay spoke at the Berkman center on the day of publishing three weeks ago. Good overview until I get the book.

IT Conversations: danah boyd

IT Conversations: danah

I think Anyone will be captured by the energy this woman outputs. First podcast in years that I listened to twice, and will listen to again as I drive up north into mountain country with my family. Helps that I was always a ’social informatics’ buff. The stuff she covers is dynamite. I need to stop being the wizard around my family and friends. It’s not them who are mugglars, it’s me.

Nikon D300 Review

Nikon D300 Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review

Ok, it’s now three (or four?) years since I got my D70. Time to upgrade? The D70 is still in good condition but  I do hate flash and  I do live up north where light is sparse and sensitivity is very very important. With the D300 I get usable images up to ISO 3200 (the dpreview review says so…), while the D70 is more or less unusable above ISO 800. That’t two full stops, which is a lot and might help postpone investment in new glass. But before I decide I need to understand Nikon approach to image stabilization, and find the big bucks the D300 commands…

Antisocial

I, Cringely . The Pulpit . Antisocial | PBS

Bob notes. As does Jon Udell in his interview with Valdis Krebs. That social networks are a fad. I am a member of Linkedin, but adamantly refuse Facebook and all the others. How do You do it?

Oscar

A couple of days ago I pointed to a KK writeup on Kitchen Computer. Today’s link (above) comes from Dave Wiener of rss-fame and is similar in that the software tackles a living room need? Do we have a need for real time feeds of news of the world entering our living spaces at all time? It is captivating, and I guess I’ll just have to crank down the energy saver timeout for the montitor quite a bit not to be stuck watching grand photos from around the world all day. (The few days I actually spend in the living room that is…)

Han gnider in lite smör i håret…

Pappaledig

Tack.
